Features of websites for public organizations
A website for a public organization is not just an informational resource, but a powerful, multifunctional tool. Its main mission is not to sell goods or services, but to build trust, attract resources, and create a strong community around a noble cause. It serves as a central hub for communication with beneficiaries, volunteers, and donors, and is also an official confirmation of transparency and legitimacy.
Unlike commercial projects, the design of such websites has special requirements, as it must not only inform but also emotionally motivate and persuade. We took these nuances into account when creating a design that would effectively fulfill its social mission:
- Building Trust and Transparency: The visual style of the website must convey honesty and openness. This is achieved through a clear structure, easy access to official documents, financial reports, and stories that confirm the effectiveness of the organization’s work. Every design element must communicate: “You can trust us.”
- Clear Call to Action (CTA): The main goal is to convert a visitor into an active participant. Therefore, strategically placed and visually highlighted buttons and blocks with calls to action, whether it’s “Make a Donation” or “Participate in an Event,” were developed on the site.
- Creating an Emotional Connection: The design should be emotionally rich, but not manipulative. We use visual elements that tell the stories of the people the organization helps, evoking empathy and a desire to contribute to the charity. This creates a strong bond between the organization and its audience.
- Convenient Navigation: An intuitive structure is critically important. The user must be able to quickly find information about fundraising campaigns, courses, events, or ways to help, without unnecessary clicks. Logical hierarchy and a well-thought-out menu structure significantly increase the website’s effectiveness.
Workflow
The client approached us with a request to create a website for a public organization that provides support to veterans and civilians. The task was to develop a design that would effectively present all areas of activity, be user-friendly, and motivate people to help.
1. Homepage Design Development
We focused on creating a dynamic and informative homepage that immediately introduces the visitor to the organization’s mission and its main projects. The block arrangement was carefully considered to immediately draw attention to the most important initiatives:
- Fundraising Block: Up-to-date information on current fundraising campaigns is prominently located, with large, noticeable CTA buttons like “Join.” The design of the block creates a sense of urgency and importance, encouraging immediate action.

- Courses and Events: Blocks with courses for veterans, as well as events for their rehabilitation, are visually highlighted, showing that the organization not only raises funds but also actively works on long-term support. The design of these blocks conveys a sense of hope and opportunity.

- Call to Donate: A separate, bright block with a CTA button for donations is strategically placed to motivate the user. It is made in a contrasting color, making it noticeable and memorable.

- Courses for Civilians: We added a block with courses for the civilian population, emphasizing the organization’s broader social mission and its involvement in the life of society. This expands the audience and shows that assistance is bilateral.

- Charity Run: A block dedicated to the charity run provides information about upcoming events and allows for registration. It helps to spread the word about events and attract new participants.

- Reports from Past Events: A separate block presenting reports from past events, allowing users to familiarize themselves with the organization’s results.

- Rewards for Donation: A separate block showing visual rewards that can be received for a donation.

- Official Documents: A block with official documents confirming the organization’s activities is prominently displayed, serving as direct proof of transparency and reliability.

- Partners: A block with partner logos also enhances legitimacy and trust. It shows that the organization collaborates with well-known entities.

2. Internal Page Structure
Support Page
This is the key page for donations. It presents various methods for making a donation—from bank cards to cryptocurrency transfers. The design of this page is engineered to maximize ease of use for the customer and increase conversion.

Donation Rewards Page
On this page, medals and awards that can be received for a donation are displayed in neat tiles. Each tile features a photo of the medal and its name, and clicking on it leads to a page with detailed information. This approach creates additional motivation for donors, fostering a sense of belonging and gratitude.

Reward Detail Page
This is a detailed page dedicated to a specific medal. It contains information about its symbolism, history, significance, and the conditions under which it can be obtained. The design of this page is crafted to create a sense of importance and respect, stimulating the desire to earn such an honor.

Donation Courses Page
The page provides general information about the courses and a list of available training programs. The design allows for an easy overview of which courses are available, who they are for, and brief information about each one. This ensures quick access to information and convenient navigation.

Course Detail Page
This page contains detailed information about a specific course, its curriculum, instructors, and participation requirements. The design ensures readability and easy comprehension of large amounts of information, helping the user make an informed choice.
